Fields at SkyCrest says 'I do' to NextJS

Developing a landing page site and content management setup for Mooresville's newest wedding venue

How We Built It

  • NextJS
  • TailwindCSS
  • Sanity.io

Challenge

Fields at Skycrest opened as a wedding venue in Cleveland, NC, just outside Mooresville. Todd and Stacey Abernathy own the venue alongside Willow Branch Flowers and Lake Norman Chiropractic, so they already understood the cost of a weak web presence from running those businesses. A new wedding venue with no search footprint loses ground to established competitors from the day it opens, and every week without a strong site is bookings that go somewhere else. The venue property is genuinely impressive, but that doesn’t matter if the site loads slowly or buries the photography behind dated design. Todd and Stacey also needed to update content themselves without calling a developer every time a price or availability detail changed.

Solution

We built the site in Next.js with TailwindCSS and connected it to Sanity.io for content management. Next.js static generation keeps page load times fast, which matters for search ranking and for couples who won’t wait for a slow gallery to appear. The site puts venue photography front and center because the visual quality of the property is the main selling point. Sanity gives Todd and Stacey a clean editing interface where they can update photos, pricing, and availability details on their own schedule. The CMS requires no technical knowledge, so content changes happen when the Abernathys decide to make them, not when they can reach a developer.

Results

The site works as both a visual brochure and a lead generator. Couples searching for venues in the Lake Norman area find it, see the property presented at its best, and have a direct path to getting in touch. Todd and Stacey handle all content updates themselves, which means the site stays current without ongoing costs. The photography loads fast and the layout gives it room to do its job. Fields at Skycrest established a web presence that could compete from day one, which was what the project needed to deliver.
